Compass North is a Kingston-based five-month accelerator program for women entrepreneurs operating a technology-based business in the Belleville-Kingston-Brockville region. Ignited by Queen's University and L-SPARK, the program features high-touch mentoring, tactical workshops and a tight-knit community of entrepreneurs who 'get it'. This program is designed to help you grow your company with hustle and heart.

Compass North Mentors + Advisors
Every founder that joins Compass North is paired with an embedded mentor, two and a half days per month (one day onsite and three half days virtually), for the duration of the program.
Compass North also calls upon a community of incredible advisors for tactical workshops and strategic training on a wide range of topics.

February 2020Applications OpenCompass North will open applications for its first cohort in February of 2020 and begin meeting with women technology entrepreneurs in the Kingston, Brockville and Belleville regions.
February 2020Kick-Off EventCompass North will host a kick-off event in Kingston, which will feature a keynote speaker, a panel of experts and a networking opportunity for women entrepreneurs.
March 2020Applications CloseApplications will close on March 20, 2020. The Compass North team will then shortlist applicants to pitch at a selection event.
April 2020BootcampShortlisted companies will then work with the Compass North team of mentors to prepare their pitch for the selection event.
April 2020Selection DayOn April 15, 2020, shortlisted candidates will pitch to a room of judges for a spot in the accelerator. Successful candidates will be notified if they have made it into the program shortly after selection. Judges will be looking for companies who are solving innovative problems, have an MVP or a product in market and who are ready to grow.
April - October 2020Program in SessionOnce the cohort is selected, the Compass North team matches each founder to a mentor. That mentor will then work with the company two and a half days per month (one day onsite and three half days virtually) beginning April 20, 2020 to create a custom plan and help drive the company toward goals and objectives. Throughout the program there will also be webinars and training opportunities on specific topics, potential investor pitch sessions and networking events.
October 2020Demo DayThe program culminates in a demo day where each founder in the cohort will pitch to a room of investors, potential customers and the community.

Queen’s University is receiving federal funding from the Women’s Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) Ecosystem Fund, which helps to address gaps and build capacity in the entrepreneurship ecosystem for women. The mission for the Queen’s project, called WE-CAN, is to inspire and empower existing and aspiring women entrepreneurs by providing them with tools, resources, expert mentors, networks and community building to expand existing businesses and to launch new ventures. As a partner in the WE-CAN project, L-SPARK is collaborating with Queen’s to design and deliver Compass North.
